1.Why should I choose Xiamen University?
Comprehensive-As a state key university directly affiliated with the China Education Ministry, Xiamen University has a long history of eighty-five years of outstanding teaching staff and facilities.

2.How can I apply?
The Admissions Office of Xiamen University is responsible for enrollment matters including undergraduate and graduate study both at home and abroad.

3.What should I do if I can’t speak Chinese?
All the programmes of the University are open to international students. Since the main courses are taught in Chinese, non-Chinese overseas applicants have to take the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK): Band 6 for humanities applicants; Band 3 for Natural Sciences applicants. For the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), please contact Overseas Education College of the University or visit its website http://www.hsk.org.cn/english/Default.asp

4.What documents do I need to submit for my application?
Photocopies of the "Application Form for Admission of International Students to Study in Xiamen University" and the "Physical Examination Record for Foreigners" Ten 2-inch (passport-size) photos
  • Undergraduate study
    Photocopy of passport;
    High School Diploma and marks transcript;
    letters of recommendation;
    HSK Certificate
  • Master's study
    Photocopy of passport;
    Undergraduate Diploma and marks transcript;
    letters of recommendation from two professors;
    one or two academic papers
  • Doctoral study
    Photocopy of passport;
    Master's Diploma and marks transcript;
    letters of recommendation from two professors;
    one or two academic papers

    5.When can I start my course?
    Undergraduate and graduate courses of the University start in the autumn semester. Xiamen University follows a three-semester academic calendar, with autumn, spring and summer semesters as follows:
    Autumn semester: mid-September–end of January the following year
    Winter vacation: end of January–mid-February
    Spring semester: mid-February–mid-June
    Summer semester: mid-June–end of July
    Summer vacation: end of July–beginning of September
    Teaching hours: Monday–Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 11:40 a.m. 14:30 p.m.–17:30 p.m.
